SECU Foundation offers Bridge to Career Program scholarships to local community college students – Neuse News

The member-funded SECU Foundation has funded up to 30 local students to receive a $500 SECU Bridge to Career Scholarship to study at Lenoir Community College.

The SECU Foundation launched the SECU Bridge to Career program in 2018 to help students seeking careers with sustainable wages in their local communities. Administered by each college, the initiative aims to help individuals find career and job placement opportunities through eligible training programs leading to state-regulated or industry-recognized degrees. Scholarship funding will be applied to educational and other expenses associated with their program of study through a North Carolina Community College workforce development program.

SECU Foundation Executive Director, Jama Campbell, comments: “This scholarship program is an essential part of the SECU Foundation scholarship offerings, filling the gap with support for those seeking employment in an industry. high-demand business or enhancing their education with new skills to advance their careers. North Carolina has an excellent community college system, and we are proud to work with educators across the state to help North Carolinas work toward a brighter future. On behalf of the SECU Foundation, we offer our congratulations to these recipients.

With the combined commitments for the SECU Bridge to Career and People Helping People scholarship programs, SECU Foundation funding for the NC Community College System totals more than $1.6 million annually.
