ON GREEN FOR EDUCATION

On Wednesday, 140 players took part in the 33rd annual Education Fund Golf Tournament, hosted by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce.
The tournament, held at Beaver Meadow Golf Course, started very early at 8 a.m. and included a day of putting and course competitions. The event was sponsored by local businesses and participants registered to compete at rates of $ 150 per person and $ 600 per team.
Money raised through the event helps fund two of the Chamber of Commerce’s programs: Corporate Teacher Grants, which provides money to teachers in the area who have developed innovative programs in local schools. Kindergarten to Grade 12 and the Capital Region Student Leadership Program, which helps youth develop their leadership skills to contribute to the Concord community. According to Timothy Sink, president of the Chamber of Commerce, the event raised approximately $ 40,000 to $ 45,000 gross, before expenses.
“It was a great day on the course for all of the companies and organizations supporting the tournament,” said Sink.
The winning team were Jonathan Watkins, Greg Woodsum, Bob Bethel and Tyler Halstead of The Rowley Agency, Inc. Nathan Wechsler & Company, PA, and in third place, Dennehy and Bouley, LLC.
