Hawaii State FCU Awards Public School Teachers $ 40,000 In Grants For Supplies

The Hawaii State Federal Credit Union (Hawaii State FCU) today announced a call for applications for its 2021 Investing in Education grant program. The State of Hawaii FCU will distribute $ 40,000 in grants of up to $ 500 to eligible teachers in Hawaii public schools to help them purchase supplies, such as books, teaching materials. learning and other essentials. Applications are available until June 30, 2021.

“When we created the HawaiÊ»i State FCU Investing in Education grant program over 10 years ago, our goal was to support public school teachers in our community, who often have to pay for school supplies out of their own pockets. And given the events of the past year, we all know their sacrifice and dedication has never been greater, ”said Andrew Rosen, President and CEO of HawaiÊ»i State FCU. “With these grants, we hope to make a difference when students return to class. We value the teachers at Hawaii’s public schools and remain committed to helping the Hawaiian keiki succeed.

Eligible applicants should submit an application indicating the needs of their class and how the funds will help them improve student education. Grant recipients are selected based on responses to applications and will be reviewed in the order in which they are submitted. Funds will be available until June 30, 2021 or until all funds have been disbursed. Applicants must be a member of the State of Hawaii FCU and be currently employed by the State of Hawaii Department of Education as a teacher.

The FCU State of Hawaii’s Investing in Education grant program has funded Hawaii classrooms since 2009 and has distributed nearly 700 grants with a total value of over $ 325,000.
