Bridgewater Fire Department Receives $4,000 Through FM’s Global Fire Prevention Grant Program
BRIDGEWATER — The Bridgewater Fire Department received funding for its fire prevention efforts through a private grants program.
The $4,000 grant, awarded by FM Global, will be used to purchase smoke alarms and fire prevention equipment. The materials will be used to help with fire prevention activities and community education to help reduce the number of fires in the community.
Firefighter Billy Lieb applied for the grant on behalf of the department and will work to implement the funding.
“We are grateful to FM Global for this generous grant,” said Chief MacDermott. “This funding will support us in our work educating residents about fire prevention, with the overall goal of improving fire safety in our community.
Through its Fire Prevention Grant Program, FM Global provides grants to fire departments – as well as national, state, regional, local and community organizations around the world – that best demonstrate a need for funding, where dollars can have the most demonstrable impact on fire prevention, or mitigate the damage it can quickly cause.
Over the past 40 years, FM Global has provided millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to fire service organizations around the world. Locally, the company has awarded grants to a number of Massachusetts-based organizations.
“At FM Global, we strongly believe that the majority of property damage is preventable, not unavoidable,” said Michael Spaziani, Assistant Vice President – Fire Prevention Grants Program Manager. “All too often, inadequate budgets prevent firefighting organizations from being as proactive as they would like. Through additional financial support, grant recipients actively contribute to improving property risk in the communities they serve. »
