Feb. 05 (THEWILL) – Federal University Alex Ekwueme, Ndufu-Alike, AE-FUNAI, Ebonyi State will represent Men’s Football Zone O in the Finals to be held at the University of Lagos, March 2022 .

NUGA Vice-President, Mr. Emeka Ogbu, who revealed this during a visit to Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom, took the opportunity to commend the university authority for bringing to the sport the necessary support and encouragement.

He noted that the NUGA qualifications, which took place at the university, clearly demonstrated the infrastructural and financial support, especially for the hosting of the NUGA qualifications at the University from Thursday 27 to 31 January 2022.

During the visit, NUGA Vice President, Mr. Emeka Ogbu applauded the Vice Chancellor who is also the big boss of the South Eastern Universities Games Association, for delivering on his promise to host the NUGA Zone O preliminaries at the university.

Mr. Ogbu, also noted that this is the start of the actualization of the goal of making the Southeast the epicenter of college sports development. He also briefed the Vice Chancellor on the upcoming sports summit, which will be held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in February. He also pleaded for his approval to allow the Sports Unit of AE-FUNAI to be part of it.

Earlier, the Head of AE-FUNAI Sports Unit, Mr. Yinka Olawoyin appreciated the Vice Chancellor for endorsing and funding the organization of NUGA Qualifiers, adding that the party gave the university an edge , exposed students and further encouraged unity. to continue to work hard to showcase the University at future sporting events.

“We thank you for your support, financial and moral. We are proud of you as a University and we will continue to give the best of ourselves from Unity,” he promised.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elom thanked the NUGA Council for choosing AE-FUNAI as the host of the games despite being relatively young compared to other universities in the area. He also assured of his administration’s commitment to sport and sporting activities at the University and beyond.
